Intelligent traffic surveillance
Chennai's roads generate millions of vehicle movements daily. Manual enforcement catches a fraction of violations and only when officers are present. TROZ changes that equation entirely: an AI-powered, ANPR-integrated traffic enforcement platform that monitors every lane, detects every violation category, and generates e-challans automatically — without an officer needing to be at the location.
How It Works
At the Road — One ANPR camera per lane continuously streams video to a Local Processing Unit (LPU). The LPU runs OCR on every captured number plate in real time, converting it to editable, searchable text. Evidence cameras capture the full violation frame alongside plate data.
At the Command Centre — All events — plate number, vehicle image, camera ID, location, timestamp, and video clip — are transmitted to the Central Monitoring Server and stored in a searchable database. Operators at the Integrated Command and Control Centre have live access to all feeds, alerts, and incident records.

Automated Alerts — When a captured plate matches a flagged category — suspected vehicle, wanted list, VIP — the system generates an immediate video pop-up alert at the command centre. No manual checking required.
Integrated Enforcement — The platform connects directly with VAHAN, SARATHI, and the e-Challan application via APIs and webhooks, enabling end-to-end digital enforcement without manual data re-entry. Every challan generated is traceable, auditable, and legally defensible.
Investigation and Search — Authorised personnel can search the full historical database by date, time, camera, location, event type, or plate number. Results export to Excel or PDF for legal and administrative use.

What the System Enforces
TROZ's AI/ML video analytics engine with deep learning simultaneously detects and records multiple violation types in a single camera frame — generating individual challans for each:
-
Stop line violation and signal jumping
-
Wrong-way driving
-
Triple riding
-
Riding without helmet
-
Mobile phone use while driving
-
Driving without seatbelt
-
Overspeed detection
-
Defective, missing, or obscured number plates

Built to Scale and Integrate
TROZ is not a standalone system — it is a platform built for the city's broader traffic intelligence infrastructure. Standardised APIs enable integration with any future system. The network and storage architecture scales horizontally as new cameras and locations are added. A comprehensive three-week training programme for Traffic Police officials ensures the system is operated to its full capability from day one.
